Every year since 2004, MLB has celebrated Jackie Robinson Day to honour the trail-blazing second baseman.
While all players typically wear Robinson’s iconic No. 42 on April 15, that won’t happen Wednesday since games are postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, Robinson’s cultural impact can hardly be overstated more than 70 years after he broke baseball’s colour barrier. And between the lines, he was one of the greatest second baseman ever to have played the game.
