Jets drop 11th straight as Oilers rally for comeback win

Nothing seems to be going the way of the Winnipeg Jets of late.

The Jets failed to shut down an Edmonton Oilers rally as they lost 4-3 for their 11th straight defeat on Thursday.

Things seemed to be going well for the Jets early on, as a three-goal first period gave them a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

But a late second-period goal from Connor McDavid — which lifted his point streak to 17 games — cut into the lead, and quick goals from Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard midway through the third gave Edmonton its first lead of the game.

The Jets were hamstrung by an incapable offence in the third period, as the Oilers poured on 16 unanswered shots on net for a stretch in the frame and gave Edmonton goaltender Calvin Pickard an easy night, as he had to stop only 13 of the 16 shots he faced.

Winnipeg’s top line was, once again, almost the only source of hope, as Kyle Connor opened the scoring and Josh Morrissey netted the third goal for the Jets off assists from Mark Scheifele and Connor.

But it simply wasn’t enough from the reigning Presidents’ Trophy winners, as they continue to wait for their first win since Dec. 13 against the Washington Capitals.

Overall in the last month, the Jets are 1-10-4, dropping them to the worst record in the NHL this season.
