Jets’ Josh Morrissey exits Game 6 vs. Stars with apparent injury

The Winnipeg Jets will be down a key member of their blue line as they try to force a Game 7.

Star defenceman Josh Morrissey exited in the second period of Saturday’s Game 6 against the Dallas Stars and didn’t return to the bench for the start of the third.

Morrissey went down the tunnel after getting tangled up with Stars forward Mikko Rantanen, who seemed to land on the Jets’ assistant captain’s left leg awkwardly.

The six-foot-tall D-man already missed Game 1 of Winnipeg’s second-round series while recovering from an upper-body injury that forced him out of the Jets’ Game 7 win over the St. Louis Blues in Round 1.

Morrissey had logged 14:56 of ice time before exiting Saturday, recording one shot on goal, two hits and four blocked shots.

The 30-year-old has recorded six assists in this post-season. In the regular season, Morrissey was a plus-17 over 80 games, registering 17 goals and 62 points in over 24 minutes of ice time per game.
