Both the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars are getting a scoring boost for Game 1 of their second-round Western Conference series.
Jets forward Mark Scheifele and Stars winger Jason Robertson will return to their respective lineups as the two teams return to the ice after dramatic Game 7 wins in the opening round.
Scheifele last played in Game 5 of the first round against the St. Louis Blues before missing the final two contests with an undisclosed injury.
He owns six points (two goals and four assists) through five playoff games and finished second in team scoring during the regular season with a career-high 87 points, helping lead Winnipeg to the Presidents’ Trophy.
Robertson, meanwhile, had been out of the lineup since April 16 with a knee injury. He skated alongside Wyatt Johnston and Mason Marchment at practice on Tuesday. He finished second on Dallas with 80 points this season and had a team-high 35 goals.
Additionally, the Jets will remain without defencemen Josh Morrissey and Logan Stanley for the contest.
Morrissey exited Game 7 in the first period following a hit into the boards.
He had three assists in the first six games of the Jets’ first-round series while averaging 23:30 of ice time. In 80 regular-season games, the 30-year-old recorded 14 goals and 48 assists.
Stanley has played in five games this post-season, recording no points, a minus-2 rating and 42 penalty minutes. He was replaced by Haydn Fleury, who played 33:02 in the double-OT Game 7 victory.
Morrissey and Stanley both practised on Wednesday but stayed out late for extra work after skating together on a fourth pair of sorts.
The Jets host the Stars for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. CT.
