Lakers come back to beat Timberwolves in OT, earn Western Conference’s seventh seed

The Los Angeles Lakers erased a 15-point deficit to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-102 in overtime and earn the Western Conference’s seventh seed in the NBA’s play-in tournament Tuesday night.

The Lakers will take on the second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs. While the Timberwolves will take on the winner of the New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder play-in game for the eighth seed and final spot in the playoff on Friday night.

Dennis Schröder hit a go-ahead three on an assist from LeBron James with 1.4 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but Mike Conley forced overtime from the free throw line. He was fouled while attempting a last-second three by Anthony Davis and knocked down a trio of shots at the charity stripe to force the extra five minutes.

Los Angeles pulled away in overtime after Taurean Prince missed a golden opportunity to tie the game with 12 seconds left when a Lakers turnover gave the Timberwolves forward an open look from behind the arc.

More to come.
