Forget torpedo bats. Have you heard of a beer bat?
Yes, the Philadelphia Phillies indeed sell barrels of beer in the Citizens Bank Ballpark concourse.
The team introduced the world to the concept of a beer bat one year ago. But now it’s brewed up a new innovation.
Instead of holding the bar for the duration of the game, fans can now safely set it down in front of them.
The Phillies’ beer bats don’t even appear to have to conform to MLB regulations.
Unlike the torpedo bats, which have made waves by shifting mass in the barrel closer to the handle, the beer bats’ barrels seem to be quite wide throughout.
We’ll call it a smart fix to what was ale-ing an otherwise solid product.
