One of the most recognizable and storied names in modern soccer, Ronaldo had one year left on his deal with Juventus heading into this transfer window.
The Serie A team, in hopes of acquiring something for the 36-year-old star before his contract expired, had been said to be seeking a £28-million transfer fee for the Portuguese striker, a potentially daunting sum given his per-week wages total £500,000.
Terms and a fee for Juventus were not immediately made available.
Ronaldo last played in the Premier League from 2003 to 2009 with United, scoring 118 goals in 292 games while winning three league titles and the Champions League.
In his three seasons with Juventus, Ronaldo scored 81 goals in 98 appearances, including a league-high 29 goals during the 2020-21 campaign. He is the only active player to lead the Serie A, Premier League and La Liga in scoring.
Ronaldo is also the top scorer in Champions League history with 134 goals and won the European Golden Shoe on four occasions, second only to Leo Lionel Messi, who has six.
