The Toronto Maple Leafs will have to live without defenceman Brandon Carlo a while longer.
Carlo will miss an extended period of time due to an injury that will probably require surgery, head coach Craig Berube told reporters on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old has been out since suffering the injury during a game on Nov. 13.
He has recorded two assists in 18 games for Toronto this season while averaging just over 20 minutes of ice time per contest.
The Leafs acquired Carlo in a trade with the Boston Bruins at last year’s trade deadline.
Meanwhile, goalie Anthony Stolarz has seen “no real improvement” from his own injury, Berube said.
Stolarz has not played since Nov. 11. He struggled in 13 games prior to going down, posting an .884 save percentage and 3.51 goals-against average.
The Maple Leafs return to action Tuesday in Sunrise, Fla., when they meet the Florida Panthers for the first time since their seven-game loss in Round 2 last season.
Toronto is coming off a 7-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday and will make just one change to its lineup, subbing out Dakota Mermis for Simon Benoit, who missed the previous contest for personal reasons.
