After missing the first three games of the series, Toronto Maple Leafs winger William Nylander is making his return against the Boston Bruins in Game 4.
The 27-year-old Swede took warmups with the team and appears to be slotting on the third line with Pontus Holmberg and Calle Jarnkrok.
He missed the previous three games of Round 1 for an undisclosed reason, which Nylander told reporters was “personal.” He participated in morning skate on Saturday, though did not confirm to reporters at the time whether he would be playing.
In 50 career playoff games, all with the Maple Leafs, Nylander has 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points.
On the other end of the ice, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery appeared to deviate from his goaltender rotation and chose to start Jeremy Swayman for the second game in a row.
Swayman was excellent in Game 3 for the Bruins, stopping 28 of 30 saves to lift his team 4-2 and a 2-1 series lead. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Swayman said he wanted “to keep playing.”
The 25-year-old was in net for Boston’s two wins in the series. Over the past two seasons, Swayman is 6-0-0 against the Maple Leafs, with a .959 save percentage and 1.31 goals-against average. He also has had four 30-save performances.
The Bruins hold a 2-1 lead in the series, having won Game 3 in Toronto. Saturday’s game can be seen at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
