Maple Leafs take 2-1 series lead with OT win over Lightning

Morgan Rielly scored with less than a minute left in overtime to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series on Saturday.

The Leafs now lead the series 2-1.

Rielly’s wrister from the point beat Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy to win it.

With Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov pulled for an extra attacker, Toronto’s Ryan O’Reilly tied it at 3-3 with one minute left in regulation, beating Vasilevskiy from in close.

The game had some rough stuff. Leafs defenceman Rielly sent Brayden Point into the boards hard in the third period, sending the Lightning forward to the locker-room and resulting in a fight between Auston Matthews and Steven Stamkos.

Rielly was originally called for a five-minute major, but upon review the penalty was nullified.

Point eventually returned to the game.

Game 4 is Monday in Tampa.

More to come.
