This echinoderm who some have dubbed “c*cktopus” and “pentad*ck” has five arms and each end has an eye-catching bulbous tip. The Indo-Pacific region is often where one may find choriaster sea stars, including places like the Philippines and the Great Barrier Reef. Choriaster sea stars have a distinctive, bright purple or pink color… with a little different shade of pink at the tips of their extremities. These sea stars are often found in shallow waters, where they feed on a variety of small invertebrates and organic matter. While it does look like it would like to bang you five times, it’s harmless to humans.
Choriaster went viral on Reddit where it got comments like “this is why we never meet mermaids”, “5 girls 1 star”, and “just like everything else in Australia, it wants to f*** you”.
