MLB postpones all Marlins games through Sunday due to COVID-19 outbreak

Major League Baseball has postponed all Miami Marlins games through Sunday after an outbreak of COVID-19 amongst the team. Additionally, the Philadelphia Phillies will not return to play until Friday after the team hosted the Marlins over the opening weekend of the season.

“Given the current circumstances, MLB believes that it is most prudent to allow the Marlins time to focus on providing care for their players and planning their Baseball Operations for a resumption early next week,” MLB said in a statement.

The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, who were scheduled to play the Marlins and Phillies respectively this week, will now play two games against each other Wednesday and Thursday to create “schedule flexibility” later in the season.
