No Joke: I'm Replacing My Expensive Lip Oil With This Affordable One Right Away

It’s no secret that shiny, glossy lips are in right now. In fact, we predict that this will be one of the biggest makeup trends of 2024. Although a standard lip gloss is a great way to get the look, I personally prefer a lip oil. Not only does this product give you that really shiny finish, but it often contains nourishing ingredients to help hydrate your lips at the same time. As a beauty editor, I’ve tried my fair share of options over the years, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t obsessed with the famous Dior lip oil. This product went viral last year, and for good reason. It hydrates the lips, gives a seriously glossy finish and comes in eight beautiful shades. That being said, it’s definitely not cheap. This designer lip oil will set you back a cool £32, and while I think it’s worth the investment, there are definitely some more affordable alternatives on the market.

I’m not one to gatekeep, so I’ve taken it upon myself to round up the best Dior lip oil alternatives that deliver on shine without breaking the bank. From new launches to old favourites, there are lots to choose from. So, if you want a glossy, hydrated pout, then keep on scrolling for all the info…

The OG.

Editor’s Pick: I’ve been seeing this lip oil all over TikTok, and for good reason. The Glow Reviver Lip Oil gives that really glossy, shiny finish without feeling sticky on the lips. The formula contains a blend of squalane, apricot oil, avocado oil and jojoba oil and comes with a refreshing, minty scent. Plus, the applicator is very similar to Dior’s high-end alternative. For just £8, you really can’t go wrong.

Editor’s Pick: My next in line would be this product from Kosas. I recently got my hands on this lip oil/gloss hybrid, and I was seriously impressed by the results. It looks more like a gloss, but the formula contains hyaluronic acid, shea butter and peptides to hydrate and plump the lips. Although it didn’t last quite as long as the Dior lip oil, it was easy to reapply throughout the day thanks to the doe-foot applicator. I’ve received so many compliments since wearing this, and it’s become a staple in my makeup bag.

Price shown is members’ price. Yes, that’s right. Even Beauty Pie does a lip oil. I love this option as it is infused with collagen to give a plumping effect, while cherry and hibiscus oils work to hydrate.

If you prefer a clear lip oil, then this is the one for you. The formula is super hydrating thanks to ingredients such as sweet cherry seed oil and jojoba seed oil, and one application will give your lips a subtle sheen that is perfect for everyday.

Another TikTok favourite comes in the form of the Nyx Fat Oil Lip Drip Gloss, and after seeing the results online, I’m sold. This product also has a similar applicator to the Dior lip oil, and the formula contains cloudberry oil, raspberry oil and squalane to hydrate and add shine. Oh, and did I mention that it is only £7?

If you’ve read our guide to the best lip oils of all time, then you’ll know that we are big fans of Vieve’s Lip Dew. Not only does this product look beautiful on the lips (it gives a seriously gorgeous sheen), but the addition of green tea extract helps to soothe dryness.

Lottie London’s lip oil really is one of the best affordable options I’ve tried. It adds shine, it hydrates the lips, and thanks to the price, I don’t mind reapplying it throughout the day when needed.

Not only does Gisou’s lip oil look great, but it feels great too. The honey-infused formula glides onto the lips and adds a healthy-looking shine.

Last, but by no means least, say hello to the PhD Hybrid Lip Oil from Haus Labs. This tinted oil contains vegan collagen and prickly pair oil to plump and hydrate, and the non-sticky formula adds a lipgloss-worthy finish.
