Not All Street Style Is Out-There—These 6 Simple Looks Are So Easy to Copy

We admit street style during fashion month can get a little wild. There are some people who go all out for shows in fabulous tulle dresses and heels higher than you could ever imagine walking in (let alone looking effortlessly fabulous in)—and we have the utmost respect for them. But it’s not all feathers and tutus. Most of us attending are running around from show to show, jumping on the Tube and dealing with gale force winds as we try to scoff a Pret sandwich before the next event begins. This also means our outfits actually need to be easy, comfortable and mostly practical, as well as chic.

That’s not to say these looks are any less inspiring. On the contrary, it’s often the more understated, wearable outfits that get us the most excited when we spot them across the runway or on the streets because they’re still fashionable but we can actually copy them when we get home. Whether it’s a coordinated pairing, interesting layering trick or standout accessory, the key to these anything-but-boring, simple looks are the subtleties in the styling. That is to say you can still make a fashion week–worthy look out of classic pieces, some of which you probably already own, just with a few clever tweaks and additions.

The inspiration from the street style is one of our favourite bits about fashion month. Especially since the timing of it helps to set us up with plenty of outfit ideas to get us out of our winter wardrobe ruts and into spring. So we thought we’d share here seven perfect looks we recently spotted at the shows that are not only stylish but really easy to copy too. Keep scrolling to see and shop the looks.

Style Notes: So simple but so effective. A good pair of jeans always elevates any outfit (and will carry you through many years to come), but this season it’s all about XXL denim that’s loose in the leg for laidback appeal.

The cinched waist elevates this high-street blazer to near perfection.

A wearable way to tackle the supersized denim trend.

A simple look can carry a statement shoe.

Style Notes: A leather coat was the key piece of autumn/winter 2022, and continues strong into 2023 too. Pair it with a fun mini and classic Mary Janes and you’re set. (Risk takers may enjoy a nod to the sheer trend with a lace top that shows just the right amount of skin, but be sure to check the forecast first.)

Consider this an investment buy you’ll wear for years to come.

The easiest way to bear skin, while still leaving a little to the imagination.

The perfect base for an outfit that bursts with personality.

A Mary-Jane-meets-mule hybrid that makes any outfit look infinitely cooler.

Style Notes: It doesn’t get comfier, cosier, or more chic than pairing a fluffy jacket with sleek leather. Nod to rock and roll styling with a chunky Chelsea boot, and get ready to stomp the streets.

It might be spring, but you still need a layer to keep out the chilly winds.

There’s a reason our editors rely on ARKET’s premium quality basics.

Forget unflattering, spray-on leather leggings, a looser straight-leg trouser is the secret to nailing the look.

Who knew a practical, all-weather boot could look so chic too?

Style Notes: Layering block colour is failsafe way to ensure an outfit looks carefully assembled, and rich creams and whites will breathe new life into what was once your dark, winter wardrobe.

You can always trust Max Mara for timeless styles like this double breasted coat.

You can’t go wrong with cream cashmere.

Sorry mini skirts, we’re all about the midi and maxi this spring/summer.

One thing that never goes out of style is a classic court shoe–especially in a versatile, neutral tone.

Style Notes: A cool, classic like a soft, belted coat and a killer shoe is a winning combination you can always trust, and while we’ll always have an affinity for the wide-leg trouser, a cropped straight-leg is perfect for sunnier weather.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this wrap coat was designer.

You’ll wear a simple chino with everything from trainers to strappy sandals.

How can you improve on the loafer? With a modern square toe of course.

Style Notes: Make a chic statement with a tonal outfit that introduces unexpected pops of vibrant colour.

Sure, simple shearling is great, but have tried you tried it in mood-boosting brights?

The only thing better than an oversized linen shirt is having a matching pair of trousers.

The ultimate weekend uniform.

It’s official–we’re obsessed with New Balance in every colour.
