Oilers beat Stars, take 3-2 lead in Western Conference Final

The Edmonton Oilers are one win away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.

The visiting Oilers beat the Stars 3-1 on Friday to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring with a pair of power-play goals before Philip Broberg made it 3-0 in the second period.

Wyatt Johnston ended Stuart Skinner’s shutout bid at 14:09 of the third period.

Meanwhile, the Oilers killed three penalties to give them 25 penalty kills in a row, tying a franchise record set in 1998.

Game 6 is Sunday in Edmonton.

More to come.
