With a 6-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche, the Edmonton Oilers became the third Canadian team to clinch a spot in the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, joining the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames.
Evander Kane scored a hat trick, bringing his total to 20 in 39 games this season, while Kailer Yamamoto, Evan Bouchard, and Kris Russell also pitched in for the Oilers. Mike Smith made 33 saves to backstop the win.
Last season, the Oilers were swept by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the playoffs.
More to come.
