Oilers’ McDavid goes 8-for-8 in All-Star Skills accuracy shooting event

Connor McDavid opted out of the fastest skater competition this year at the All-Star Skills Competition.

Turns out he had something else up his sleeve.

The Edmonton Oilers star went 4-for-4 in the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting event, nailing all four targets in 9.497 seconds in the preliminary round on Friday.

McDavid easily beat the previous best time of the night — 12.126 seconds by Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders.

Daniel Sedin holds the record of 8.9 seconds, set in 2011.

What’s more, McDavid was perfect yet again in the semifinals — but made one slight error on the final shot.

He double clutched after taking the pass and then hit the target, giving Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames the time he needed to edge McDavid in the head-to-head semifinal.

Nelson went on to beat Kadri in the final.
