Oilers punch ticket to Round 2 with Game 6 victory over Kings

The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 in Game 6 on Saturday night advancing to the Western Conference semifinals with a 4-2 series victory.

The win marked the second year in a row the Oilers eliminated the Kings in the opening round, having done so in seven games in 2022. Edmonton proceeded to advance past the Calgary Flames, before bowing out to eventual Stanley Cup winners Colorado in the Western Conference Finals.

Kailer Yamamoto picked an opportune time for his first goal of the series, as his goal with just over three minutes remaining in the third period ended up being the game-winner.

Klim Kostin scored twice for the Oilers in what was a back-and-forth affair. Oilers superstar Connor McDavid opened the scoring with his third of the series.

The Oilers will now take on the Vegas Golden Knights in Round 2 after the Golen Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets in Round 1.

More to come.
