Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 6 events to watch, schedule

Track and field and golf get going on Day 6 of the Olympics in Paris, and Canada has medal contenders in each sport.

Later Wednesday, Summer McIntosh will be back in the pool to try to grab her third medal of the Games, while Felix Auger-Aliassime plays a tennis quarterfinal in the aftermath of a huge upset against Daniil Medvedev.

Here’s a look at highlights, along with the full schedule for Day 6.

(All times Eastern)

Evan Dunfee (track and field, men’s 20-km race walk, 1:30 a.m.)

The Canadian finished fourth in this event at last year’s world championships. He captured bronze in the 50-km race walk at the Tokyo Olympics, but that event isn’t on the Paris program.

Corey Conners and Nick Taylor (men’s golf, 3 a.m.)

Conners tees off at 3:33 a.m. with fellow Canadian Taylor starting at 5:44 a.m. It’s a traditional four-round tournament.

Canadian 3×3 women’s basketball team (vs. Germany, 3:30 a.m.; vs. France, 4 p.m.)

Canada looks to improve on its 2-0 start. The top two teams in the eight-team field advance directly to the semifinals after the round-robin.

Shady Elnahas (men’s judo, 100-kg competition, 4 a.m.)

The Canadian won silver in this event earlier this year at the world championships. He was ousted in the quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics.

Canadian women’s eight (repechage, 4:10 a.m.)

The defending Olympic champs were sent to a repechage after finishing third in their heat. Five boats are in the repechage, and four will advance to the final.

Wyatt Sanford (men’s boxing, 63.5-kg quarterfinal, 6:52 a.m.)

The Canadian fights Ruslan Abdullaev of Uzbekistan with the winner guaranteed a medal. Canada hasn’t won an Olympic boxing medal since 1996.

Canadian women’s basketball team (vs. Australia, 7:30 a.m.)

After a blowout loss against France in its opener, Canada needs to bounce back to maintain control of its destiny.

Felix Auger-Aliassime (men’s singles quarterfinal not before 9 a.m.; mixed doubles semifinal not before 11:30 a.m.)

The Canadian has a shot at two medals in the midst of what has been an up-and-down campaign. He faces No. 6 seed Casper Ruud of Norway in a men’s quarterfinal before teaming up with Gabriela Dabrowski in a mixed doubles semifinal.

Summer McIntosh (women’s swimming, 200-m butterfly final, 2:30 p.m.)

The Toronto native looks for her second gold of the Olympics. She’s won this event at the past two world championships.
