Olympics Live Blog: Canada vs. Colombia

It’s do-or-die for the Canadian women’s soccer team.

On Wednesday, Andy Spence’s side takes on Colombia to wrap up Group A action at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT.

Considering Les Rouges‘ six-point deduction from FIFA, which remains in place after a rejected appeal, Canada must top Las Cafeteras to advance to the knockouts. A draw or loss will not be enough to see the reigning Olympic champions to the next round.

LIVE SCORE: CANADA 0, COLOMBIA, 0

• Pre-game: Spence has selected his starting XI, and there’s some changes from last time out.

Julia Grosso replaces Simi Awujo in midfield, with captain Jessie Fleming dropping to a central position. Janine Beckie gets her first start at the Paris Olympics while Quinn drops to the bench. Adriana Leon, Cloé Lacasse and Gabrielle Carle get the nod up front ahead of Nichelle Prince.

• Pre-game: Colombia is without its heavy hitter, Mayra Ramírez, for Wednesday’s game. The Chelsea striker was sent off in Colombia’s opening match against France for a nasty tackle, and was given a two-game suspension.

For Canada, Jayde Riviere’s availability remains uncertain. The 23-year-old missed the first two matches with an ankle injury.

• Head-to-head: Canada and Colombia have met twice before, with Les Rouges winning both. Most recently, Canadian soccer legend Christine Sinclair netted the only goal in a 1-0 victory in July 2012. Canada won the only other meeting, 2-1, in the semifinals of the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico.
