Carter Verhaeghe scored in overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday in Sunrise, Fla.
The Panthers’ win cuts Vegas’ series lead to 2-1 heading into Game 4 on Saturday in Florida.
Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk tied it with 2:13 left in the third. Tkachuk missed much of the first period after being on the receiving end of a big hit from Keegan Kolesar, but returned in the second.
Jonathan Marchessault and Mark Stone also scored for the Golden Knights in Game 3, while Brandon Montour opened the scoring for the Panthers.
Marchessault’s goal was his 13th of the playoffs, tying him for the league lead with Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl.
More to come.
