After clawing their way back to even ground courtesy of wins in Games 3 and 4, the Toronto Raptors dropped Game 5 against the Boston Celtics, falling to a 3-2 series deficit.
Boston dominated early, outscoring the Raptors handily through the first half and holding on in the second to earn a 111-89 win. Fred VanVleet and Norman Powell led the way offensively for Toronto with 18 and 16 points, respectively, while Boston’s Jaylen Brown led all players on the floor in scoring with 27 of his own.
With Game 5 in the bag, the Celtics have pushed Kyle Lowry and Co. to the brink of elimination, with a chance to face the winner of Miami-Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference Final on the line.
Game 6 of the series will tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 9 on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
More to come.
