The Detroit Red Wings have signed captain Dylan Larkin to an eight-year, $69.6-million contract extension, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.
The average annual value is $8.7 million.
Larkin’s current five-year, $30.5-million deal expires after this season.
The Red Wings picked the native of Waterford, Mich. in the first round (15th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
After one year at the University of Michigan, Larkin turned pro in 2015 and made the Red Wings’ opening-night roster.
The centre leads the Red Wings with 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points in 59 games this season.
In 563 career NHL games, Larkin has 169 goals and 246 assists for 415 points.
Larkin is a three-time NHL All-Star.
