Report: Packers planning to start QB Malik Willis vs. Titans

Malik Willis is expected to be behind centre for the Green Bay Packers for the second week in a row.

According to NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Packers are planning to start Willis against his former team, the Tennessee Titans, as Jordan Love likely needs another week to heal from his MCL sprain.

Willis stepped in for Love against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday and went 12 of 14 for 122 yards while throwing his first career touchdown pass and committing no turnovers. Willis also had six carries for 41 yards.

Love has been practising on a limited basis ahead of Sunday’s game and is currently listed as questionable. Rapoport and Pelissero believe he could return in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Love also was listed as questionable last Friday on Green Bay’s injury report, but he was downgraded to doubtful the following day and ended up missing the Packers’ 16-10 victory over the Colts.

Love injured his left MCL on Sept. 6 during the final series of the Packers’ 34-29 season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
