The San Diego Padres and Fernando Tatis Jr., are in agreement on a 14-year, $340-million contract, according to multiple reports.
Tatis, 22, will sign the longest contract in baseball history and the third largest ever, surpassing Bryce Harper’s 13-year, $330-million deal he inked with the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the 2019 season.
The Padres infielder has played just 143 MLB games in his two-year career and hasn’t completed a full season in the majors. He batted .277/.366/.571 with 17 home runs and 45 RBI in 59 games during the 2020 campaign.
