Star quarterback Deshaun Watson has requested a trade from the Houston Texans, according to multiple reports.
Watson has been unhappy with the organization for weeks after not being involved in the hiring process for the team’s new general manager, Nick Caserio.
Houston reportedly hired David Culley as their new head coach, but that did not sway Watson’s decision to seek a trade.
Teams have reportedly been calling the Texans in an attempt to land the franchise quarterback, but Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract that allows him to be selective regarding a possible future destination.
The 25-year-old Watson inked a four-year, $160-million extension with Houston in September that included $111 million in guaranteed money.
The Texans posted an underwhelming 4-12 season in 2020, though Watson enjoyed tremendous personal success, throwing for a league-best 4,823 yards with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
