If there were any final vestiges of hope for mending the relationship between the Houston Rockets and James Harden, the disgruntled superstar appeared to put them to rest Tuesday night.
Speaking to reporters after the Rockets were routed by the Los Angeles Lakers 117-100, sending Houston to a 3-6 start, Harden said the rift between the two parties is beyond repair.
“We’re just not good enough. Chemistry, talent-wise, just everything. It’s clear, like I said, these last few games from the beginning of the game. (The Lakers are) an aggressive, veteran team, obviously, championship team,” said Harden.
“I love this city. I’ve literally done everything that I can. This situation — it’s crazy. It’s something that I don’t think can be fixed,” he continued.
Rumours have swirled since the start of the season that the 2018 MVP wants out of Houston, despite the Rockets swinging a blockbuster to bring in John Wall.
Wall, for his part, told reporters Tuesday it’s been “a little rocky” trying to develop chemistry with Harden.
ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported after the game that the Rockets continue to discuss Harden trades, but no deal is imminent.
