Senators release statement denying online rumours about Linus Ullmark

The Ottawa Senators released a statement Thursday categorically denying online rumours regarding goaltender Linus Ullmark and his personal leave of absence.

“Our organization was completely disappointed to read the completely fabricated and false stories that are spreading around social media about our hockey club,” general manager Steve Staios said in a statement released by the team. “Linus is away from our team for personal reasons and he has the entire organizations support.

“We are disgusted that outside forces are attempting to disrupt our hockey club. This statement will put an end to the ridiculous speculation that has spread online.”

Rumours first surfaced on Thursday morning about the nature of Ullmark’s leave.

Ullmark, 32, was granted a leave of absence from the team on Dec. 29. He has a 14-8-5 record this season with a .881 save percentage and 2.95 goals-against average.
