Super Bowl LVII is here and football fans have an incredible matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs to look forward to.
The American Gaming Association has estimated approximately 50 million people in the United States alone will place some type of bet on Super Bowl LVII with the event expected to generate roughly $16 billion worth of wagers.
With legalized sports gambling expanding all over North America in recent months and years, including in Canada, there’s no shortage of betting markets to consider ahead of and during the big game.
Both teams sailed over their respective win totals this season (KC’s was 10.5 and PHI’s 9.5) and cashed at plus money if you bet either of them to win their divisions (KC in AFC West at +160; PHI in NFC East at +150).
If you placed a future bet on Kansas City ahead of the season you got them around +1000; a bolder future on Philadelphia in the +2200 range will have you sitting pretty heading into Sunday.
Odds this week for Super Bowl LVII have fluctuated slightly depending on which sportsbook you use and on what day/time you place your bets, and that’ll continue to be the case leading up to and beyond kickoff. Below you find an overview of what to consider if you’re looking to responsibly place a wager.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the main betting markets for Super Bowl LVII.
SPREAD/MONEYLINE
PHI -1.5 (-110) | PHI moneyline: -120
KC +1.5: (-110) | KC moneyline: +100
The line opened and has stayed at a modest -1.5 on the Eagles side with the Chiefs in a rare underdog spot at +1.5. With no major injury or roster developments on either team, the odds haven’t fluctuated too much and it remains nearly a pick ‘em.
Both teams had 14-3 regular-season records but Eagles bettors had more favourable results against the spread (ATS).
Philadelphia is 10-9 ATS in their 19 games (regular- and post-season) and they were the listed favourite in all but one of them. Kansas City, meanwhile, went 1-1 ATS as underdogs this season and are 7-11-1 ATS overall. Good news for Chiefs backers is Patrick Mahomes has only been the underdog nine times in his career and his teams are 7-1-1 ATS in those games.
Last year’s Super Bowl saw the Bengals cover a 4.0-point spread as underdogs but they lost 23-20 to the Rams. The underdog has covered the spread in 10 of the past 15 years. Philadelphia beat New England straight up (SU) as 4.5-point underdogs in 2017; the Chiefs covered at 1.5-point favourites against San Francisco in 2020 but lost SU to Tampa Bay in 2021 when favoured by a field goal.
TOTAL
Over 51.0: -110
Under 51.0: -110
This year’s total opened at 49.5 and has moved to as high as 51.5 and as of Saturday afternoon it sat at an even 51.0.
The Eagles were involved in four games that exceeded 51 points and were 3-1 SU in those contests with the lone loss being 40-34 to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve when Jalen Hurts was out injured. On the other hand, the Chiefs had 10 games this season that reached 51 or more total points and they are 9-1 SU in those games.
The past four Super Bowls have gone under the listed total and both Chiefs Super Bowl appearances in the Andy Reid era went under.
Philadelphia is one of only four teams this season with more over games than under games at 10-9. Kansas City is 8-11 on overs so far this season.

If you followed our weekly betting previews throughout the regular season, you’ll know I hung my head in shame after posting a sub-.500 record during the regular season. Being a consistent overs bettor did not pay off most weeks, however we did turn things around in the post-season…and I will not apologize for going 4-0 during the NFC/AFC Championship weekend, which improved the overall playoff record to 16-11.
