Target x Agua Bendita
Founded 20 years ago by Catalina Álvarez and Mariana Hinestroza, Agua Bendita is known for its swim- and beach-wear featuring hand-drawn prints and -embroidered designs by Colombian artisans.
What was the inspiration behind the collection?
Catalina Álvarez : We’re from Colombia, so our biggest inspiration always is colors, mountains, birds, flowers, nature; everything that’s around us.
[We wanted] our pieces [imbued]with the Colombian, Latin American creativity, which is beautiful to us.
How did you approach the design process? CA : Our in-house artists developed each one of the flowers and illustrations you can see in the prints. They drew them by hand and then, together with Mariana, I would start putting them into each one of the pieces we have for the collection.
It’s so incredible to look at them drawing one by one, the way they develop everything, and the way we keep the handmade processes that everyone loves a lot [from Agua Bendita]. It’s our most important value in the brand. That’s part of our culture, and that’s what we want to keep in any collection we create.
What are your favorite pieces?
Mariana Hinestroza : I love the pareos because you can wear them no matter the day, the weather, you can wear them in different ways.
CA : And the bathing suits. It’s not only a one-piece swimsuit [points to herself wearing the swimsuit as a bodysuit]. We created a collection that you can wear whenever you want. It’s adapted to women that are powerful, women that want to be seen, women that are super proud of [themselves]and want to show the beautiful things they are wearing and how confident they feel in them.
What are you taking away from this experience working with Target?
CA : [To continue] beliving in our dreams and working for our dreams. This, for us, is like a huge dream [come true]. It’s working hard with a lot of passion to achieve our goals. We’re so proud of this [collaboration].

Target x Fe Noel
Fe Noel is a color- and print-forward New York-based womenswear brand inspired by the eponymous founder ‘s Grenadian heritage.
What was the inspiration behind the collection?
Felisha Noel : Everything I do is infused with the vibrancy of the Caribbean in it — this effortless, colorful feel — and this collection is basically a burst of that. When people see it, I want them to feel happy, I want them to feel like they’re engulfing sunshine.
A lot of these pieces are meant to be able to go from the beach to the street. To be versatile and have a long life. I want you to be able to wear them on the beach [but also]be able to go to dinner or brunch with your girlfriends.
I am a beach girl. I love the beach, I love the sun. And I also love fashion, so it’s like, “What’s wearable, but what’s fashionable, what’s functional?” And when I marry that when I am designing, I’ve hit gold.
What were some elements from your main line that you wanted to come through in this collaboration?
FN : I really wanted bold prints. I knew that I [also]wanted the fit to feel effortless. Because that’s one of the main things that my clientele talks about — how they can just throw a piece on easily and it instantly transforms them.
What makes you most excited about the collection?
FN : How many people get to now experience what Fe Noel is. I’m just super excited to see what people are going to say and how they’re gonna respond to it.
And see how they’re gonna make it their own, how they’re gonna wear it. I’m most excited to see how the [shoppers]put their own spin on it. I am going to be stalking the hashtagging to see how people wear it because that also gives me inspiration. After a collection is designed, you kind of put your art out into the world, and it takes on a life of its own, and it becomes something new. And watching that, it’s like different variations of your singular thought.
What are your favorite pieces?
FN : [Points to the pants and swimsuit pictured here] These pants are so comfortable, so easy to wear and throw on. You can put them on with sneakers, you can put them on with sandals. The thing I love about this puff-sleeve swimsuit is that you can wear it to swim, but you can also wear it as a bodysuit and it is so flattering.
I like things that look special. I like things that when somebody buys it, they see it in their closet, it looks and feels special.

Target x RHODE
Started by Phoebe Vickers and Purna Khatau in 2012, RHODE takes inspiration from the founders’ travels, made wearable for the everyday thanks to timeless and comfort-first silhouettes.
What was the inspiration behind the collection? Purna Khatau: Our main line is inspired by cultures all around the world and bright colors, and [is]very happy. So we wanted to bring that to the Target collection as well. The Target collection was inspired by India, where I’m from, and that’s where we drew the inspiration for the colors and the prints.
Phoebe Vickers: We always try to ground the collections in timeless shapes and bold and vibrant prints, and we wanted people to really feel this kind of carefree confidence with this collection and really just celebrate spring and warm weather to come.
What were some elements from your main line that you wanted to come through in this collaboration? PK: Staying true to the DNA of the brand was really important to us. Color is a really big component of RHODE, so that had to come through. Also silhouettes; we’re excited to bring in iterations of some of the bestsellers from our main line to the Target collection.
What are you most excited about from the collection? PK: Swim is something that we wanted to do for a long time, and we’re just excited to try it out with Target. It turned out really great!
PV: Being able to offer extended sizing is really amazing. This collection runs from XXS all the way to 4X, and I’m really excited that we’re going to reach that audience.
What made you excited to collaborate with Target?
PV: Working with Target has always been a dream of mine. They are pioneers or the pioneer when it comes to design collaborations. They’ve worked with so many designers that we’ve been inspired by, and this has been kind of a 20-year project for them. So being a part of that history is amazing and an honor for us. Reaching that wide of an audience is incredible.
PK: Also to be able to hit great quality at this price point because of their production capabilities is just amazing.
