The Only 6 Jewellery Trends That Matter This Autumn

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in all my years working in fashion, it’s that the smallest things can often make the biggest difference. Take this summer’s penchant for wearing your designer vests inside-out and back-to-front to show of the branding within. It might relieve you to hear that I’m not about to suggest swapping your tops with your bottoms or wearing mis-matched shoes (remember when that was a thing?). The point is, small tweaks can have big style payoffs. And what could be the small tweak we’re discussing today? Well, the headline kind of gave it away, didn’t it?

Jewellery is clever in that it can elevate your look in mere seconds. Whether you’re styling a simple t-shirt and jeans or looking to breathe a new lease of life into your favourite wedding guest outfit, ensemble, adding a necklace, earrings, bracelet, or ring can completely alter the aesthetic. And as we head into autumn, I thought why not take a closer look at the jewellery trends we can expect for the season ahead.

From the metal that’s been dominating the runways once more to the pretty pieces fashion people keep reaching for, scroll on to discover the six autumn 2022 jewellery trend to lift your outfits with.

Style Notes: Bows are big on the accessory scene every season, but usually they manifest by way of bags, shoes, and even hairbands. However, in 2022, the prettiest way to wear your bows is in earring form, in either crystals or pearls.

This pair looks so expensive.

If you’re in the market for a smaller pair.

Where bows are concerned, Jennifer Behr’s creations are never far behind.

Style Notes: When I was young, I had a mood ring that turned my finger blue, that I still refused to take off. I feed off nostalgia, so you can imagine my delight at the sheer number of mood-style rings that are currently on the market. The bigger the stone, the better!

Such a beautiful stone.

This one actually changes colour!

A sleek style that also comes in a black stone.

Style Notes: Although silver jewellery has never gone out of style, it’s fair to say it hasn’t been as prevalent in designer collections for the past few seasons. Now though, it’s back in a big way, especially in terms of chunky pieces.

This also comes in a yellow gold-tone should you prefer that.

An easy way to ease yourself back into wearing silver if, like me, you’ve worn gold since your late teens.

This will look cool paired with fluffy and striped knitwear for autumn.

Style Notes: Who needs to wear your heart on your sleeve when you can wear it around your neck or decorating your hand. I’m actually losing sleep thinking about this Saint Laurent silver-heart and black-ribbon necklace.

My teenage-self would wear this with a mesh long-sleeve top and baggy trousers. Actually, as would my adult-self.

A cute way to channel the heart trend, this ring comes in a handful of pretty colour options.

Mango is knocking it out of the park with its latest jewellery drop.

Style Notes: If something more classic is what you seek, look no further than tennis bracelets. While I’d love nothing more to live a bougie life filled with real-diamond tennis bracelets, I’m so impressed by the more affordable options out there this year. Daphine’s best-selling Chris bracelet is high on my wish list.

This also comes in necklace form, which is just as covetable.

I’ve gifted one of my friends this style in the past, and she wears it all the time.

Love coloured gemstones? This also comes in pink and blue.

Style Notes: Rhinestones are back, baby! And one of the easiest ways to add them to your looks is with some crystal drop earrings. I like to wear mine to bring some joy to my daily Zoom meetings. Naturally, they also work for evenings out.

My dream pair of crystal earrings.

M&S is also in on the action with this frugal option.

A chic shape that will elevate any updo.
