However, there is a new style in town, and it might just be the coolest one yet. Say hello to the shaggy bob.
Loved by both celebrities and influencers, the shaggy bob has been spotted on the likes of Lizzo, Alexa Chung and Jenna Ortega. This grungy style is a far cry from the sleek, polished bobs we are used to seeing, and we’re not mad about it.
So, what exactly is the shaggy bob hair trend? “This style of bob can be shorter or longer, but with the characteristic of very texturised ends,” explains Michele Antiga, signature colourist and stylist from Gielly Green.
“This can be achieved with a combination of soft graduations with razor cut or dented scissors. I personally use a dented scissor and texturise vertically to enhance natural movement.”
This hairstyle is the perfect low-maintenance trend for summer, as the messier it looks, the better. It’s all about that textured, choppy vibe that all the cool girls know and love.
If you’re keen to give the trend a go, we recommend investing in a good texturising or sea salt spray to add some movement to the hair.
The best bit about this style is that according to Antiga, it can work well on all hair types. “You can easily adapt it to suit your hair,” says Antiga. “You can style it with or without a fringe to suit all face shapes too.”
