Summer tends to be all about dresses, but this year we’ve noticed that trousers are holding strong even through these warmer months. It’s easy to understand the progression as we’ve seen so many stand-out trouser trends already this year from much loved wide-leg tailoring to Y2K cargo pants and dreamy crochet co-ords.
Right now, linen trousers are a clear favourite, especially striped and colourful pairs which may be due to the rise of the plain-top-and-fun-trouser trend, or maybe as they play into the pyjamas as outerwear movement. Either way, trousers are making their way into every fashion persons wardrobe, and most prominent is one particular pair: the Highbury Linen Trousers by Boden.
We first spotted this particular pair of striped linen trousers all over our Instagram feed. Once we noticed an 160% increase in searches for Boden’s linen trousers we soon discovered there were plenty more styles that were worth noting. It’s easy to see why these are so popular right now. For summertime, light and airy linen is a no-brainer whether you’re facing the most sweltering days, or layering up on those cooler post-rain mornings. They feel put-together despite their comfortable nature and take little styling to make an impact.
Boden has a range of linen trousers, (which I’ll share below if you’re interested), but this particular striped pair is a real stand out. Stripes have long been a feature within renowned capsule wardrobes, but rarely in this form. We tend to look to striped shirts, pinstripe tailoring or Breton jumpers as a way to play with print, but this bolder style is an instant injection of fun. What’s more, striped trousers are surprisingly easy to style—just keep it simple. Chiara shows that a plain white tee and colourful shoes will make an easy-going yet considered ‘fit, whilst Kim carries on the ease below with a simple button-up shirt and flip flops.
Linen will forever be a summer staple, whether you opt for neutrals, bold hues or striking stripes. Keep scrolling to explore Boden’s linen trousers, and shop more striped trousers.
