This H&M Item Always Makes People Look Rich

If I had to pick one item of my wardrobe that gets the most compliments, it would be my H&M tweed bouclé jacket. It’s a piece I managed, miraculously, to nab early last year in the minutes that it was in stock online. Ever since, every time I wear it or post about it, I get a barrage of questions asking where it’s from—and I’m faced with shocked expressions when I tell them. Although, sadly, this particular jacket (pictured above) was never restocked last year, H&M clearly discovered they were onto something and have decided to back this perfect spring jacket trend in a big way for 2023.

The brand released its first SS23 version a few weeks ago (as seen on Emma Thatcher below, seriously—doesn’t it look designer?) and, of course, that also sold out within hours. I’ve signed up for notifications of restocks in all sizes, so I will be the first to report if and when it returns. But the good news, is that this week has seen many more versions of the bouclé jacket land in H&M’s new-in section—all just as expensive-looking as the next. I’ve added links to them all below and from past experience (and the fact that H&M’s bouclé jackets seem to be a new cult high street buy) I’d recommend moving quickly on the styles that you fall for.

Their popularity is unsurprising, really, given that the style itself is so timeless. Tweed bouclé jackets have been a mainstay in stylish and polished wardrobes ever since Coco Chanel created her first iconic iteration back in the 1950s. The best apart about them, I find, is that these days you can add them to a simple pair of blue jeans or wide trousers, white shirt or T-shirt and your favourite loafers or ballet pumps and you’ve got an easy spring outfit that instantly makes you look rich and put-together. Of course, all of H&M’s versions are reasonably affordable which is an even bigger bonus.
