Toronto FC’s opening game at the MLS is Back Tournament against D.C. United on Sunday has been postponed, the league announced.
The match was originally scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. ET.
The league said both teams were tested on Saturday under the league’s health and safety protocol. The results of those tests saw an initial unconfirmed positive COVID-19 case for one player and an inconclusive test for another.
Based on the teams’ arrivals to the bubble in Orlando, MLS protocol called for retesting both clubs in the morning and to await the results before playing the game.
There are two other games slated to kick off on Sunday with Sporting Kansas City facing Minnesota United at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Real Salt Lake taking on the Colorado Rapids at 10:30 p.m. ET.
