Trust Me—This Classic Coat Trend Makes Every Winter Outfit Look Fabulous

Do leopard-print coats ever go out of fashion? We’d argue that no, they never do. Thanks to the likes of modern muses Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, this particular coat or jacket is always a great way to make an outfit suddenly more fabulous. So, what do you need to know about the style and how is it making a statement this season?

For 2022, anything goes. There was a return to the more classic faux-fur look, with Yuhan Wang putting a fluffy iteration complete with matching hat and a real life cat on the runway for autumn/winter. But then there are also more stripped-back outerwear options. Ulla Johnson opted for a belted plisse coat for her AW22 collection that looks elegant, timeless and is more wearable than other styles. Celine had autumn-appropriate jackets teamed with wardrobe staples on the runway while Michael Kors kept the look sleek with a tailored, slightly oversized style.

Ulla Johnson’s sleek take on the leopard coat has taken our mind away from faux fur. See how good a longline style looks with flat tall boots?

Making leopard work for minimalists, Celine showed how perfectly the print goes with shades of grey.

Making a case for a double dose or leopard, Michael Kors put an oversized car coat on the runway teamed with a mini dress. Swoon.

Whether you’ll be digging your own leopard prints out of storage or shopping for a fresh spin on fashion’s most enduring trend, one thing’s for sure: This year, we’ve been covered in animal prints, and that’s set to continue. Keep scrolling to shop the leopard-print coats you need to see this season.

Lena Farl proves the item makes a statement on its own, keeping the rest of her look simple with indigo jeans and a white t-shirt.

Grece Ghanem wears a wet weather-ready vinyl iteration with puddle-proof Bottega Veneta wellies.

Ellie of Slip Into Style pairs a leopard print coat with white jeans and a tan bag.

Wear with matching leopard print separates, if you dare!

This smaller print feels less busy than a lot of the styles out there.

A go-to for great faux fur, Jakke’s classic cut style also comes in hot pink and bright green.

Prefer a cropped style? Jakke also has you covered (quite literally.)

You could easily mistake this Rixo retro style as a vintage gem.

I love this vinyl trench, which puts a fun twist on a classic shape.

You can slip this inside out to wear as a camel coat so it’s basically a two-for-one buy.

Trust Raey to create a style even minimalists could get on-board with.

For a lighter version, try this cotton-blend jacket from mango.

All about that nipped in waist.

This faux fur blazer is ideal if you prefer not to swamp a more petite frame.

Even puffers have been given a leopard print overhaul. And this one is made to be super cosy.

An investment, but one worth making when you’ll wear it each and every winter.

The high street has some great leopard styles at the moment.

This bomber will liven up your favourite pair of jeans.

A classic.

If you don’t want to go for full print, this quilted jacket (another key trend) is the one.
