Police in London, Ont. will meet with the media Monday afternoon to provide an update on the sexual assault case involving players from the 2018 Canadian World Junior hockey team.

London Police Chief Thai Truong and Detective Sergeant Katherine Dann of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section will speak to reporters in London. You can watch the press conference live on this page at 2 p.m. ET/ 11 a.m. PT.

Five players — Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, Cal Foote and Michael McLeod — have each been charged with sexual assault. McLeod also faces an additional charge.

Lawyers representing the five players made an appearance in London court via video conferencing on Monday morning. The session was adjourned to April 30 and because of that, no charges were read in court and no pleas were entered.

The charges come more than a year after the London police re-opened their investigation into the alleged incident on July 22, 2022. An initial investigation was launched in the summer of 2018 and concluded in February 2019 without charges being laid.
