Will Ferrell And Zooey Deschanel Recreated Their ‘Elf’ Duet And It’s The Holiday Spirit We All Need

The cast reunited this weekend for a live table read of the 2004 movie

We all know that Elf is the best Christmas movie, and I’m not just saying that because Will Ferrell owns this company. (I’m kind of saying that because Will Ferrell owns this company.) It’s got everything a top-shelf holiday movie needs: snow, decorations, whimsical stop motion animals, and singing.

To quote a certain giant elf, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

One of the movie’s most unforgettable moments is, of course, the iconic duet between Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel. Iconic because not only are the acoustics in that department store staff dressing room perfect for an unplugged jam sesh, but also because there’s literally no place better to sing the decidedly very creepy holiday classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” than to your coworker while they’re in the shower when they don’t know you’re there.

And this week Buddy the Elf and Jovie the… Department Store Elf, along with the rest of the cast, had a very special early Christmas gift for everyone.

On Sunday, the cast of Elf reunited for a virtual live table read of the entire movie in order to raise money for the Democratic Party of Georgia ahead of the January run-offs. While their 2020 rendition of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” featured 100% fewer showers and 100% more Will Ferrell beard, it brought with it all the fun and charm of the 2004 duet.
