6 Jacket Styles I'm Wearing With All My Outfits This Spring

It’s safe to say that I’m a bit of a collector when it comes to fashion. Although the idea of a perfect capsule wardrobe is what I long for, in reality, I’ll probably always own multiple shoes in the same style and perhaps too many pairs of jeans. Then, there are coats. Shopping for a new style is something I look forward to each year, and now I have quite the collection I can pick and choose from.

With springtime not just on the horizon but, some days, well and truly here, I’m also thinking about raffia accessories and linen dresses. However, considering I live in the UK, it’s always about layering. I’ll forever pack an umbrella, sunglasses and a light jacket into the same tote bag (who knows what else is in the depths of said bag)—no matter the season.

It’s also guaranteed that if I’m in the proximity of my mother, she’ll demand I take a cover-up with me wherever I go. But these are just some of the reasons coats aren’t only for winter. Fortunately, there are plenty of coats that loan themselves very well to carrying through to the (slightly) warmer months. Scroll below to shop the best spring coats, neatly categorised by 2023 trends

Style Notes: For spring, embrace florals (not groundbreaking, but always fun) and choose outerwear adorned with bright, mood-boosting blooms.

I spotted this trench on someone the other day and I’m SO glad I tracked it down.

The closest thing you’ll find to wearing a blanket.

I love the patchwork effect—very nostalgic.

Wow. I have no doubt we’ll be seeing this all over Instagram soon.

Prefer a moodier colour palette, even in spring? This lightweight coat is perfect.

Just so pretty.

If you just want a dusting of florals…

Style Notes: While black outerwear will always be classic, for spring (while the chill is still in the air at least), try adding a navy coat into your rotation. Softer in tone but just as wearable, it’ll look the stylish part worn with a basic white tee and vintage-wash denim.

This will never go out of style. That’s a guarantee.

2022 was the year fashion girls fell in love with RAEY. The obsession continues this year…

Chuck this on over every outfit.

I can’t imagine a better transitional coat.

This whole look gets an A+.

Style Notes: The quilted-coat trend is sticking around for the season ahead, which is excellent news, as the typically waterproof fabric will serve you well during those spring showers.

Just add a T-shirt, jeans and sneakers for an easy weekend outfit.

I love how this looks with wide-leg jeans.

The ideal layer for running errands or going to brunch.

M&S always offers an affordable way into the trends.

The leather trims really elevate this coat.

Style Notes: Often, it’s the smallest details that update classics. In 2023, we’re seeing lots of trench coats in fresh fabrications, or featuring unique design details such as panelling and extra-wide cuffs.

This looks just like the above trench, so you’re one step closer to recreating Adenorah’s chic outfit.

A more formal option for evening plans.

I bet you didn’t know you needed a denim trench coat, until now.

If you like everything oversized, this is the coat for you.

Certainly not the last leather trench you’ll see this season.

Style Notes: Shearling continues to be one of the biggest trends right now, but there’s no denying that it can feel very wintry when it covers the entire coat. Instead, look for options where shearling acts as a trim.

Stay cosy while we wait for the sunshine.

This cropped shape is super spring-appropriate.

Yes, this is expensive for Zara, but the premium materials speak for themselves.

This looks a lot more expensive than it is.

So cool.

Style Notes: Going hand-in-hand with the cargo trouser trend, utility-style coats and jackets are cropping up all over the high street. And plenty of luxury brands have released high-fashion takes…

Loewe has totally nailed this trend.

This one really nips you in at the waist.

This has been fast-tracked to the top of my wish list.

Monochrome dressers, look no further.

A versatile springtime layer.

Why not go all-out and pair this slouchy silhouette with khaki cargos?
