7 Street Style Trends Dominating Copenhagen Fashion Week

Colourful outfits, vintage monograms and boots were everywhere this fashion week.

Copenhagen Fashion Week may not be one of the big four but season after season it proves its importance to the industry. Buzzy new labels, cult brands and of course, heaps of street-style inspiration are promised when the Nordic brands hit the runway. Over the past few years, Scandinavian style has carved out its own sartorial identity and iconic brands have become internationally appreciated—think Ganni, Saks Potts, Stine Goya and Remain, to name just a few.

Aside from watching what the coolest brands are bringing for spring/summer 2023, the fashion set look to the streets of Copenhagen for their inspiring outfits and clever styling. Attendees are just as influential as the shows themselves, and we’ve noticed a few trends in what the stylish Scandinavian crowd is wearing right now.

Handily enough, our Editor-in-Chief Hannah Almassi, is currently in attendance at Copenhagen Fashion Week, and has a few observations of her own as far as the street style is concerned. “The Scandi set did not come to play! They are already jumping headfirst into AW22 looks despite the fact that there is a heatwave here. That means full trouser suits, knits, coats, boots and more have been more present than one might imagine. There’s a strong impact of Y2K across the board, from cowboy boots worn with teeny tiny skirts through to low-rise trousers, baby tees, flouro colours and a whole lot of Balenciaga’s Le Cagole bag.”

With this insight, as well as our research here on home soil, keep scrolling for the seven street style trends that everyone’s wearing at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Scandinavian style may be characterised more by minimalist dressing, but their play with colour is just as impressive. This season, the street style scene took colour in their stride, and made a bold statement in full tonal tailoring.

This makes for a great autumn work look.

It’s easy to see why this comfortable 90’s trend is having a resurgence, but in true Scandi fashion the attendees have opted for a minimalist play on the cargo pant. Both structured and billowing styles were on display, showing that there’s a pair of cargo pants out there for everyone.

Cargo pants go from day to night with the addition of heels.

A sleek minimalist look I’m planning to recreate ASAP.

The iconic v-front of cowboy boots makes them easy recognisable on the streets of Copenhagen. Longer versions that sit higher towards the knee give an elegant feel that compliments being paired with skirts, whilst classic ankle length boots are a versatile choice for all styling options.

This knee-length skirt feels so fresh paired with the cowboy boots.

If you’re unsure how to style this season’s mini skirt, this is all the inspiration you need.

Once a fashion faux-pas, the double denim combination has been turning heads for the past few years and evidently, its still a contender. For maximum impact, mix hues of denim, or go bold in a colourful denim set.

There’s so much detail in this denim look.

Don’t limit yourself to blue tones, a colourful denim set can create endless outfit combinations.

Variations of black and white striped dresses broke up the sea of colourful outfits on the streets. With vertical and horizontal stripes being the most popular, and dresses being the style of choice for this particular pattern.

This is how minimalists do print.

A style that works for all seasons.

The impact of Valentino’s entirely pink collection for Autumn/Winter 2022 was clear to see as the streets of Copenhagen were awash with every hue of pink there is. From tailoring, to slick dresses, attendees took it to the maximum with full pink looks accompanied by pink accessories to really pack a punch.

Don’t be afraid to mix shades.

The pink hues are even more vivid with contrasting black accessories.

A great outfit deserves a great handbag and eagle-eyed onlookers will have noticed a trend in this season’s arm-candy. The most popular styles played on vintage brand monograms, with a few newer brands embracing the logo trend as well.

A vintage monogram in a heritage design? Double the fun.

This muted tonal look is the perfect contrast for the colourful monogram.
