- Plan to eliminate foul jumps to be trialled this year
- Olympic champion says it will take key skill away from event
A plan to eliminate foul jumps from the long jump event has been criticised as an “April Fools joke” by four-time Olympic champion Carl Lewis.
World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon confirmed that changes to rules would be trialled this year and said he believes the discipline needs to get rid of the large number of foul jumps recorded to make it more appealing to the public.
