Ballet Flats Are Officially Back–These Are the Prettiest Ones We've Seen Yet

After a dark and dreary winter, spring fashion is calling, and considering the latest fashion week presentations were awash with bold colours, dreamy dresses and low-key luxe separates, the sunnier season can’t come soon enough for editors. Though it may still be windy outside, we can’t help but get excited about what’s on the horizon, and where clothes for warmer weather might have to remain stored away, spring shoes can come out to play.

After being a long-suffering heel wearer there is thankfully a reborn shoe trend happening that I’m more than happy to get behind–the return of the ballet flat. Pretty, practical, and always chic, the ballet pump has been around for as long as we can remember, but thanks to a recent runway revival, the modern ballet flat is now a refined style staple that is the perfect shoe for the months to come.

If you’re looking for premium pumps with fashion-forward edge, there’s no better place to start than ballet flat specialists Pretty Ballerinas. From pointed toe, to classic two-tone, Pretty Ballerinas know good shoes, and their latest collaboration with our Spring Issue cover star Amelia Windsor is full of the perfect flats for the season.

Seasonal pops of colour? Check. There’s a mix of both pastels and brights, but it’s the nods to trending pink that many of you will notice first. Mood-boosting prints? Absolutely–think graphic florals and abstract doodles inspired by Amelia’s own illustrations. And, most importantly, easy to wear? Triple check–there’s nothing higher than a 4cm heel, so these are the kind of shoes you can be in all day without the need to change into something more comfortable. Win, win.

Amelia’s inspiration behind the collection? The vibrancy of the sunnier seasons, if that wasn’t already clear from the uplifting designs. “I think childhood summers were so colourful, and the clothes that your parents used to put you in were always so vibrant and summery—they always reminds me of swimsuits that I saw on the beach,” Windsor explains.”There were lots of different patterns and prints (and I’d be matching with my sister), I’ve still got photos of all of those now and they’re just pure joy…the collection is incredibly colourful to say the least, and so I hope they just give people happiness and a sense of being uplifted.”

If that wasn’t quite enough, you can shop the shoes knowing you’ve investing in a sustainable project, as the designs are manufactured entirely from recycled fabric and soles, making them a better choice not only for your feet, but the environment too.

Nothing says “spring” quite like pretty pastels and florals.

There’s also a zesty orange colourway too.

Prefer an almond toe over round? The Tyra pump has got you covered.

Monochrome dressers, there’s something for you too.

For those who prefer a slight heel for a little bit of lift, try the Joanna.

Imagine these with a pair of cropped black jeans and cashmere knit or blazer. Heaven.

Have a wedding or party in your summer schedule? These will style up even the most simple dress.
