Blue Jays eliminated from playoffs after Game 2 loss to Rays

The Toronto Blue Jays‘ surprising 2020 season has come to an end.

Toronto was swept aside by the Tampa Bay Rays after an 8-2 loss in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series Wednesday.

Blue Jays ace Hyun Jin Ryu started but only lasted 1.2 innings, surrendering seven runs. The Rays’ big blow was a second-inning grand slam off the bat of Hunter Renfroe.

Hard-throwing right-hander Tyler Glasnow drew the start for Tampa Bay, allowing two runs through six innings. All the damage against him came courtesy of Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen, who connected for a pair of solo home runs.

The Rays await the winner of the Cleveland Indians-New York Yankees series in the ALDS.

More to come.
