The Toronto Blue Jays have secured another important piece for the rotation by agreeing to a five-year, $110-million contract with right-hander Kevin Gausman.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan was first to report the agreement, which Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi and Ben Nicholson-Smith were able to confirm.
Gausman, who turns 31 in January, gives the Blue Jays another stable arm in a rotation that includes Jose Berrios, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Alek Manoah.
The nine-year MLB veteran is coming off a career year with the San Francisco Giants, where he made 33 starts and posted a career-low 2.81 ERA and career-high 227 strikeouts.
