 I Asked My Most Stylish Friends Where They Buy Sweaters—These 33 Styles Are Now In My Cart

Every fall, I convince myself I need exactly one new sweater. After years of having this mentality, I’ve lowkey run out of closet space. But somewhere between the first truly cold morning and my favorite local cafe starting to sell hot apple cider, my closet starts to feel like it’s missing something. The truth is, once fall hits you can never have enough cozy knits. Therefore, the shopping begins.

Instead of doom-scrolling my way into another trendy it-buy of the season, I decided to move things offline and have a quick chat with the chicest women I know. The ones whose sweaters I’ve been eyeing for years and have closets that many grow to adore and admire. I had to know which knitwear brands they felt were actually worth a little splurge. Their answers ranged from a few household names to some brands I’d never even considered, and I’ve already started adding to cart. Below, find the 33 sweaters that are now on my shopping list.

“For me there is no doubt that Everlane is the heaven of sweaters. It’s a conscious brand that have all the shapes and fabrics I dream of, their cuts are absolute perfection and their pieces last long. So it’s Everlane for me.”

“I love guest in residence! They have the softest cardigans and cashmere pieces with a lot of great classic basic sweaters that I keep coming back to every season, but they also have some sort of fun stripe or unexpected color combination each season!”

@marianna_hewitt, The Row

“For timeless staples, I always look to The Row. Their sweaters are the kind of pieces I know I’ll wear for years beautifully made and easy to style with everything I already own.”

@hadleyhgreene, Emily Dawn Long

“My knitwear loyalty begins and ends with Emily Dawn Long. She makes the case that a sweater can be textile art instead of something you grab off a folded table. It’s every bit soft, yet equally structural, the types of garments you question whether you frame it or fold it.”

@venswifestyle, COS

“My favorite place to buy sweaters is COS. I love that the quality is consistently good and the designs always feel current without being overly trend-driven. They’re also pieces I tend to keep and wear for years, which for me is always the sign of a really good sweater.”

@theslipintostyle, COS

“My favorite place to buy sweaters is COS. They have such a wide variety in terms of styles (v-necks, turtlenecks, you name it they have it) and especially colors. At the moment purple and red is a trending color combo, I immediately knew I would find a purple sweater at Cos and I did!”

@eugenietrochu, Uniqlo

“I find that the best sweatshirts tend to be in vintage shops; I also love bringing back tourist-style ones that I’ve bought in the towns I visit. There are also some really nice styles at COS or Uniqlo, but you’ll need to look in the men’s section.”

@lenafarl, The Frankie Shop

“The Frankie Shop is one of my favorite places to buy sweaters, especially when I’m looking for a statement knit that still feels effortless and elevated. Their pieces have the perfect balance of strong silhouettes and understated cool, instantly making any look feel more intentional.”

@anaasaber, Extreme Cashmere

“I’ve been a big Ralph Lauren girl again recently. Their sweaters are just classics, and I especially love them for transitional seasons. They have so many great color options too, which I feel like you don’t get everywhere these days.”
