Blue Jays’ Springer leaves game vs. Mariners with apparent ankle injury

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was forced to leave Saturday’s game against the Seattle Mariners with an apparent ankle injury.

Springer appeared to suffer the injury while attempting to make a catch at the outfield wall and landed awkwardly on his leg. He was able to walk off the field without assistance but needed help to get down the stairs to the dugout.

Through 50 games this season, 31-year-old is hitting .274 with 16 home runs and 35 RBIs in 48 games this season. Springer missed significant time to start the season with a quadriceps injury.

Corey Dickerson was brought on to take Springer’s spot in the outfield.
