Tuesday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox entered a rain delay in the top of the seventh inning with two outs.
Nathan Lukes was at the plate with a 3-1 count when the grounds crew brought the tarp onto the field.
Toronto was closing in on its 10th straight win, leading 6-1 after a five-run third inning.
Davis Schneider started the scoring with a solo shot off White Sox starter Aaron Civale before the Blue Jays brought across four more runs on RBI knocks from Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk.
Chris Bassitt had pitched all six innings for the Blue Jays, allowing just four hits and one earned run. He was 78 pitches.
