Canada’s Leylah Annie Fernandez has defeated world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka to book her spot in the US Open final.
Trailing 3-0 in the first set, Fernandez would battle back to beat the No. 2 seed in a tiebreaker 7-3. Sabalenka took the second set before the Canadian stormed back to win the match under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the third.
Fernandez will play the winner of the second semifinal match between 18-year-old Emma Raducanu and No. 17 Maria Sakkari.
