CFL players ratify new CBA, pre-season can open on Friday

CFL players have voted to ratify a tentative agreement on a CBA with the league, clearing the way for the pre-season to begin on Friday.

Earlier this week, players voted down a previous tentative agreement after a four-day work stoppage — sending both sides back to the bargaining table.

The league had set a deadline of midnight ET Thursday for a new CBA to be reached and said camps would be shut down if no deal was in place.

The Ottawa Redblacks host the Toronto Argonauts and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers entertain the Edmonton Elks in the first two pre-season games of the year on Friday.

The regular season starts on June 9.
