Chiefs shut down Ravens offence, advance to second straight Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes completed another playoff touchdown pass to Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs defence shut down MVP favourite Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens offence to win the AFC Championship Game 17-10, advancing to their fourth Super Bowl in the last five seasons.

After trading touchdowns in the first quarter, the Chiefs took control in the second quarter with an Isiah Pacheco rushing touchdown and a field goal with eight seconds left to take a 10-point lead into halftime.

Baltimore had its chances to get back into the game in the second half, but Zay Flowers lost a fumble stretching for the end zone, and Lamar Jackson threw an interception into triple-coverage, costing the Ravens valuable time to complete a comeback.

The Ravens kicked a field goal with 2:38 remaining in the fourth quarter to bring the game within a score, but weren’t able to stop the Kansas City offence from getting a first down on its final drive.

With the win, the Chiefs become just the third team to advance to four Super Bowls in five years.
